Course Curriculum Modules

Module 1: Python Basics

You’ll begin with how to set up your computer to run Python programs, then get a quick crash course in Python programming. We want to make sure that you understand Python programming basics before we get into the fun stuff. The emphasis here is on getting you started quickly so that you can really focus on the important stuff.

Module 2: Data Science Fundamentals

This is where you learn the fundamentals of data science using essential libraries such as Pandas and NumPy. By the end of this section, you will be able to open data files, run some analysis, and graph out some interesting results.

Module 3: Applying Data Science to Finance

It’s one thing to know Data Science — but much more valuable to know how to apply it to the finance world. This section will teach you how to download, analyze, and display financial data. We will be working with APIs in Real Estate, Stocks, and Economic Data and running some analysis to come up with results that you can use in the real world.

Module 4: Investment Metrics Using Code

You’ve probably heard of CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate), Volatility, Sharpe Ratio, and Max Drawdown — but knowing how to perform these calculations in code adds another level of value. We will give you the code to analyze investments in a powerful and scalable manner.

Module 5: Backtesting Investment Strategies

Ever wonder if you have a good investment strategy? Whether that article is right about buying XYZ stock? Then this section will blow your mind. We will use Python code to simulate your investment strategy over 50+ years to see how it would have done in terms of both risk and return. Because of this section, we can say with confidence that a 60/40 stock and bond mix is much better than stocks alone, and we have the data to prove it! MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

ROBERT GRZESIK

Robert has spent most of his career managing software teams on Wall Street and at various software startups.

He’s taught thousands of students in computer
programming and finance both in person and online.

In college, he received his Masters of Finance from a top business school and used to teach finance to classrooms with over 100 students each.

Robert has been programming computers for over 20 years using many different languages including Python, JavaScript, C, C++, Ruby on Rails and more.
